Passenger Travel Demand Analysis

Predict passenger O/D travel volume in metropolitan areas and entire country using passenger O/D travel volume surveys (household travel, long-distance travel, etc.). Then, predict future passenger O/D travel volume by establishing a future transport demand model (trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice, etc.).

Background and Purpose of Demand Analysis

  • Nationwide passenger O/D is used as essential basic data to effectively establish and implement transport plans, such as national land development, key national traffic networks, and transport plans for local governments.
  • Passenger O/D changes according to socioeconomic attributes (such as population and number of employees) and change of transport conditions (such as change of land use plans and future transport networks).
  • The purpose of demand analysis is to update nationwide passenger O/D, which is the foundation of transport planning, by reflecting these changes in order to maintain its practicality and credibility.
